Northfield (home of my alma mater, Carleton College) reminds me of time in the library, reading German books. And classes, talking in German about those books. So it only makes sense to visit the Northfield Public Library with my German-Inspired book.

Except, of course, talking in English.

I’ll share stories about the poet and (Carleton hero) Friedrich Schiller — but not the legendary persona known for writing the text to Beethoven’s Ode to Joy and being besties with Goethe. I’ll talk about the man who became that poet, for a short while, against all odds. And if Schiller — with all his challenges, and there were many — could become the poet who penned those timeless words — I decided maybe I could be a writer.

Afterwards, we’ll have Q & A, and I’ll guide audience members through an exercise to tap into their inspiration. Especially if you’ve ever wanted to write, please join me!

(And if you really want to write, check out my upcoming class at the Northfield Arts Guild.)
